Pastor’s Wedding Policies

Pastor Mike McEuen’s Wedding Policies

Christian marriage is a total commitment of one man and one woman to the person of Jesus Christ and to one another. Christian marriage is a commitment – “for better or worse, for richer or poorer, till death do us part.” It is a commitment to the person of Jesus Christ. The fact that two people are close to Jesus is going to mean that they are closer to one another. I count it a great honor to share in the union of a Christian couple in the bonds of holy matrimony.

1.     I prefer no less than six months notice before agreeing to perform a wedding ceremony. Exceptions are totally at my discretion.         Also, the bride or groom must be a member of Bethel, or referred to me by a member of Bethel.

2.     I perform Christian marriages. Both bride and groom must be able to give a clear testimony of being believers in Jesus Christ. They must also be firmly united in a common belief of the basic doctrines of the faith.

3.     If either the bride or groom is divorced, I require an individual meeting to investigate the cause and consequences of the divorce before agreeing to perform the wedding ceremony.

4.     I require the bride and groom to meet together with me for no less than 3 pre-marital counseling sessions and the completion of a handbook for engaged couples.

5.     Totally at my discretion, I may refuse to perform a wedding ceremony when either the bride or groom take part in pre-wedding parties involving morally inappropriate activities.

6.     No alcohol may be served on Bethel’s properties or in her facilities in any way, shape, or form. Totally at my discretion, I may refuse to perform a wedding ceremony when I know in advance that an open bar will be provided at the reception following the wedding ceremony.

7.     In accordance with the Biblical convictions of Bethel’s membership, no dancing may be a part of any reception held on Bethel’s properties or in her facilities.
